Linked directly to national occupational standards that are supported by the Health & Safety Executive, the 6150 suite is the national standard for working in confined spaces in the water and other industries and is accredited on the national framework. This qualification attests to competence in the confined spaces work place and is aimed at anyone required to undertake work of any nature in confined spaces of a medium risk. The qualification is also underpinned by National Occupational Standards (NOS), which were developed with the support of the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and Water UK.

Course content
Delegates successfully completing the course will have gained knowledge of and be able to:
- Interpret the Water UK Confined Space classification scheme identification of confined spaces
- Risk assessment
- Use and interpret gas monitors to verify safe atmospheres
- Understand the nature and occurrence of problem atmospheres
- Use ancillary safety items – harness, ropes, winches and life lines
- Use of ELSAs escape breathing apparatus safely
- Work following a safe system of work
- React positively in an emergency situation
