This course is designed to increase the skills for personnel that hold a current HSE approved offshore first aid certificate, to a level that enables them, under supervision and support of the Medic, to assist during an offshore emergency.
Prerequisite training
Personnel that hold a current HSE approved Offshore First Aid cert, who maybe called upon to assist the medic.
Course content
The syllabus focuses on:
- The role of the advanced First Aider
- Advanced casualty assessment and monitoring
- How to manage multi casualties incidents monitoring – Triage, Recording casualty information, vital signs etc
- Cardiac arrest management
- Extended airway management – Nasopharygeal airway, Laryngeal Mask Airway (medic assist)
- Advanced airway management Endotracheal Intubation (medic assist)
- Pain management – Use of Entonox, use of injections
- IV Cannulation – Intravenous (medic assist)
Recommended refresher training
Holder should undertake further training in-line with HSE Guidelines.
