This course is designed to meet the
OPITO Approved Standard in training
personnel to take charge as coxswain
of a Totally Enclosed Motor Propelled
Survival Craft (TEMPSC).
Pre-requisite training for this course is
possession of a
current BOSIET or FOET Certificate.
Training is carried out at Petans purpose-built Offshore
Survival Training Platform at Lake Lothing, Oulton Broad,
Lowestoft which is equipped with a variety of rigid
survival craft including Watercraft 50 and 54 man, and
Whittaker 28 and 54 man types.
Delegates can train on twin and
single fall types of craft. Each certificate
carries an expiry date, requiring the
holder to undertake 'Further Training' in
line with OPITO standards.
Delegates who successfully complete
the course will have acquired the ability
to:
Take charge of an assigned TEMPSC.
Launch and recover single and twin fall
TEMPSC and
move off to a safe area (using realistic
platform abandonment exercises at sea).
Establish and maintain communications
with
installations and support vessels.
Maintain safety of personnel and TEMPSC,
including
man overboard and towing exercises.
Disembarking and transferring of personnel.
Practice good seamanship.
