This course is designed to meet the OPITO Approved
Standard in training personnel to take charge as
Coxswain of a Fast Rescue Craft.
Pre-requisite training for this course is completion of an
OPITO Shipboard Operations Course, Fast Rescue Craft
Boatman Course and having served at least 3 months as
a Boatman.
Training is carried out at Petans purpose-built Offshore
Survival Training Platform at Lake Lothing, Oulton Broad,
Lowestoft which is equipped with a variety of rigid
survival craft including Watercraft 50 and 54 man, and
Whittaker 28 and 54 man types.
Training is classroom and practice based with assessment
both oral and written.
Delegates will learn proficiency in:
FRC launch and recovery.
Casualty recovery and onboard handling procedures.
Casualty transfer.
Emergency response and self rescue.
VHF procedures.
Basic boathandling at sea.
Towing operations.
Search and rescue.
Practical FRC capsize procedure.
