This course is a pre-requisite for entry to the Merchant Navy and conforms to the Merchant Navy Training Board (MNTB) standard. The course also forms part of the 5 day STCW95 Combined course.

Course content
Delegates successfully completing the course will have gained experience and knowledge of:
- Appreciation of body structure and functions
- Applying resuscitation techniques
- Introduction to First Aid
- Control of bleeding
- Application of appropriate measures in the event of burns, scalds and electric currents
- Shock management and signs and symptoms
- Unconscious casualty
- Effects of extreme temperature
- Rescue and transportation of casualty
Recommended refresher training
Holder should undertake Further Training in line with International Maritime Organisation and Maritime & Coastguard Agency Guidelines.
