This course is a pre-requisite for entry to the Merchant Navy and conforms to the Merchant Navy Training Board (MNTB) standard. The course also forms part of the 5 day STCW95 Combined course.

Course content
Delegates successfully completing the course will have gained knowledge of:

• Familiarisation with Code of Safe Working practices for Merchant Seamen
• Types of emergency which may occur and complying with emergency procedures
• Observing safe working practices
• Understanding orders and being understood in relation to shipboard duties
• Contribute to effective human relationships
• Taking precautions to prevent pollution of the marine environment and the effects of operational or accidental pollution of same
• Basic environmental protection procedures

Recommended refresher training
Holder should undertake Further Training in line with International Maritime Organisation and Maritime & Coastguard Agency Guidelines.
