This unique training course provides practical instruction for turbine transfers using a fully crewed vessel typically used by offshore wind farm operators, in safe but realistic conditions.
Prerequisite training
Have completed an MCA accredited STCW95 Personal Survival Training course and Medical Certificate to ENG 1 or equivalent.
Course content
After completion of the course, the participant will have achieved assessed skills and basic
knowledge of:
- Types of vessel used for transits
- Safe practices for travel on vessels
- Types of PPE, life-saving appliances and their practical use in transfers
- Donning and moving in a transit or survival suit
- Positioning for personnel and equipment on the vessel and transfer procedures
- Techniques and practical guidance for transferring to/from the turbine
- Practical use of the appropriate restraint and safety line systems
- Storage of PPE once on board a turbine/vessel
- Instruction in safe practices and procedure while onboard a vessel
- Man Overboard (MOB) procedures including practical casualty recovery
- Defibrillator awareness
Recommended refresher training
It is recommended that this course is retaken every 3 years.
