Petans Transition Grant

What is the Petans Transition Grant? – It is financial assistance towards the cost of a 4.5 Day GWO Basic Safety Training Course (please note this Grant only applies to people doing the 4.5 Day GWO Basic Safety Training Course, in its entirety and will not be applied to any individual elements completed on their own.  The Grant is designed to enable experienced workers in the Offshore Energy Sector with either an in date OPITO BOSIET or FOET to complete this course for the first time, which may be of benefit to those wishing to transition to work within Offshore Renewables. 

Who Qualifies? – To qualify for the grant experienced workers, and or their companies must meet the following criteria:

  • Delegates must have an in date OPITO BOSIET or FOET, with evidence available regarding where this training was completed.
  • Delegates must be able to demonstrate that they have worked in the offshore energy sector in the previous 24 months.
  • Booking must be made in the period 1st December 2025 to 31st May 2026.
  • Course must be completed by the 31st August 2026.
  • Are UK residents.

 

Please also note:

  • Grant to be awarded to the first 50 bookings received that meet the above criteria and request the grant to be applied. Companies will be limited to 6 grant supported places.
  • It is the person booking the course responsibility to advise at the time of booking that they believe they are eligible for the grant and that they wish to apply for it.
  • Booking must be paid in full at time of booking unless the client booking has a pre-existing account with Petans.
  • Training must be completed at Petans.

Evidence of eligibility will be required before reduced course rates are given,  Please see link below for details of the reduced course rate for the 4.5 Day GWO Basic safety Training Course. Please note, at least 2 weeks’ notice is required prior to the course start date.

Delegates are advised that the application to use the grant must be made at the time of booking.  Requests to have the grant applied retrospectively will be refused.

Petans can offer no guarantee that completing this course will guarantee work.

Once evidence has been received and verified by the Business Manager or someone designated to approve evidence, email confirmation will be sent to the person booking the course. Petans will aim to respond to a Grant Application within 5 working days.

If the evidence is incomplete or does not meet the evidence criteria it will be returned with explanation, further evidence can be submitted if appropriate.

Once an application for a Grant is accepted the remainder of the booking will proceed as normal and will be dependent upon the credit status of the applying course booker. 

Following course attendance certification will be provided to the course booker in line with the awarding body requirements. 

What evidence do I need to apply? - Prior to the acceptance of the individual onto the course at the reduced rate Petans will require evidence of employment in the energy sector within the last 24 months and your Vantage Number to validate that you have an in date OPITO FOET or BOSIET, including where it was completed – please note an OPITO HUET does not attract this grant.

 Evidence will be verified via the details provided. Please note, further evidence may be requested.

How will it help me? – If you meet the criteria specified you will be able to apply for financial assistance towards the reduced cost of the 4.5 Day GWO Basic Safety Training Corse specified in the table. Courses at the reduced rate can be applied for by either a company or an individual. The aim is to support the need for skills to be retained in support of the Energy Transition.
